STUDY CORRIDOR

A study corridor was established within the municipalities that comprise the INTENOR consortium (Please, refer to the Study Corridor figure below). This corridor will impact nine (9) municipalities; namely: Hatillo, Arecibo, Barceloneta, Manatí, Vega Baja, Vega Alta, Dorado, Toa Baja and Bayamón. The connection of the eight (8) remaining municipalities to the proposed system will be studied as well.

The corridor extends for approximately 50 miles. It starts on PR-119, near the coast in the Muni-cipality of Hatillo and continues eastward to end near the existing Tren Urbano Station in Bayamón. At the moment, there are two alignments under consideration: one along Puerto Rico Highway 2 (PR-2) and the other, along Puerto Rico Highway 22 (PR-22). Both alignments have the same termini and only differ in their respective routes.
