FIRST TIER ALTERNATIVES

The alternatives to be evaluated at this stage were developed within the delimited study corridor; which directly impacts the following municipalities: Hatillo, Arecibo, Barceloneta, Manatí, Vega Baja, Vega Alta, Dorado, Toa Baja and Bayamón. The methodology for the First Tier Alternatives considered two basic aspects: the possible alignments and the possible transportation technologies. For the first one, three alignments were identified: one from Hatillo to Bayamón through Expressway PR-22, a second one running through State Road PR-2, and a third intermediate alternative running between roads PR-2 y PR-22. Figure below shows these alternatives in more detail.
